There are two sites in the city that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The first is the Dousman Stagecoach Inn Museum, a stately inn with Greek Revival architecture that is now a Brookfield landmark. This inn was built in 1842 and had been run as a stagecoach inn to accommodate travelers who used the Milwaukee-Watertown plank road. In the late 1800s, the inn became a farm when railroads took over stagecoach travel. The inn was later donated to the City of Brookfield and leased to the Elmbrook Historic Society, which, in 1981, moved the building to its current location on 1075 Pilgrim Parkway. Since then, the inn has been furnished with lovely antiques and restored back to how it looked during its glory days as a stagecoach inn. Also added to the site are outbuildings like the Old Woodside School Bell Tower, the Donaldson Visitor's Center and Gift Shop - originally an 1852 log cabin, a smoke house, an ice house, and a wagon/blacksmith shop.
The other site on the register is the Gredler-Gramins House, which is a Mid-19th Century Revival-style structure.
