Columbus Sophomore Awarded Scholarship
Njasluka Chisebe, a native of Gambia studying business administration at Columbus State Community College, has been selected as the winner of the Spring 2019 BusRental.com essay contest. Mr. Chisebe will receive a $1,000 scholarship to defray the costs of his education. The award will allow him to commit his energy and attention full-time to his studies.
In his essay, Chisebe wrote poignantly and powerfully about a 2014 bus trip from his homeland in Livingstone, Zambia to Johannesburg, South Africa. He described traveling through Mozambique, Namibia and Malawi, crossing deserts and stopping along the shores of the Indian Ocean. His travel by bus allowed him first-hand experiences with people from different cultures and took him places he had only seen in his dreams. The trip helped him understand the importance and value of a good education and inspired him to return to his studies full-time.

We offer two scholarships each academic calendar year—one for the fall semester and one for the spring semester. Applicants can apply for scholarships for both semesters, but do not need to apply separately for each semester. The funds must be used to pay the costs of tuition. The right to receive and/or use the funds cannot be assigned to another person. If you don’t enroll for the semester for which the scholarship is awarded, you won’t be entitled to the proceeds.
