The Kentucky Derby is scheduled to take place in 2016 on May 6 –7. If you’ve purchased your tickets and are making plans, what to wear may be an important consideration.
Aside from spectacular horse racing, the Kentucky Derby is also an event of Pageantry & Kentucky Derby Hats.
It’s not just the ladies who wear hats. Men do as well. While not everyone is dressed to the hilt, there is a dress code you should be aware of. And attire varies depending on where you sit.
For the Derby Room, wear business casual:
- Vests, collared shirts and sweaters
- Jackets and blazers
For the Turf Club, Trophy Room and Millionaires Row, you can wear casual attire:
- Blazers and optional jackets
- Vests, collared shirts sweaters
- Dresses or pantsuits
- Slacks, golf shorts, dress shorts, khakis and capris
You’re not permitted to wear jeans, denim, shorts, tennis shoes or torn or frayed clothing.
Other seating areas, including the Grandstand allow casual attire.
